Blueswater Presents at the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe Festival
We are thrilled to bring back our critically-acclaimed suite of shows to the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Comprising of 110 performances of 9 different shows over 23 days, we strongly believe we are putting on the highest quality programming of rhythm and blues music, and are proud to defend our self-awarded title of hardest working band at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Not only can you catch us in shows such as Blues! and Queens of the Blues, but we are also bringing many talented friends along with us for the ride. Here’s the full list (including ticket links) of all the excellent shows we are putting on this August:
Blues!: 100 years of blues, 60 minutes to play it. Our flagship production returns for its 8th consecutive year, as always with a brand new song list, featuring The Blueswater in an expanded 12 piece line-up. Mervyn Stutter Spirit of the Fringe Award winner.
Queens of the Blues: A celebration of the women who have shaped blues and popular music as we know it, featuring a 7-piece lineup of The Blueswater led by formidable singer Nicole Smit.
Roots of the Blues: An exploration of the origins of blues music as we know it today, performed in an intimate setting by Black Diamond Express frontman Toby Mottershead. ‘A commanding presence on stage’ (Daily Record).
Good Morning, Billie!: Cat Loud and Sarenne Wallbridge perform a personal selection of songs from one of the most iconic voices in jazz and blues.
Logan’s Close: ‘Brilliant band… one to watch’ (Janice Forsyth, BBC Radio Scotland). Fresh off the back of a string of sell out appearances, Logan’s Close make their debut at the Edinburgh Fringes.
Live at the Jazz Bar: High octane R ‘n’ B performed by The Blueswater in the raucous atmosphere of Edinburgh world-famous Jazz Bar.
The Big Blues Showcase: Our Blueswater Presents revue, featuring performances from all of the singers and musicians in our 2018 programme.
Smitten: Smitten are a minimalist, smoky, pop three-piece. They will perform original songs written by vocalist Nicole Smit and arranged by guitarist Charlie Wild and drummer Alex Palmer.
Bala Baile: Bala Baile is an Edinburgh-based Latin trio. Led by Colombian-American Felipe Schrieberg, the band blends blues, boogaloo and Cuban son into something unique.
